I've reviewed a bunch of sites and software including written material, web videos, sales pitches and emails from vendors of different ChMS solutions. There is just something inside me that (hates the Borg) is uneasy with the concept that churches aim to assimilate new members into them vs. incorporate (or include or integrate) new people into the body of the church. Assimilation is used in a lot of the promotional materials and software to cover the process of integrating a new member.
I realize this process needs a name but assimilate to me is to force conformity and indoctrinate aka along the lines of being a totalitarian than a process to share, encourage and facilitate spirituality in someone's life. Assimilation also has a racist and cultural superiority overtones with forcing any group to adopt the language, culture, etc. of the majority.
Oh well -- if it comes across in any manuals/print materials we'll need to come up with a better term at that point.
