    the current SAEC site uses Dreamhost's built-in "Announcement Lists" email feature. it works fine; conforms to the CAN-SPAM act (double opt-in procedure); but is meant for plain-text entry. while HTML is allowed, there is no WYSIWYG interface. and any designer worth his salt knows that HTML emails are a PAIN!!!! you have to unlearn proper coding, layout, CSS and HTML technique.

    a better solution might be one i use for other clients: MailChimp. ( http://www.mailchimp.com ) they have a very user-friendly interface, nice basic templates, Google Analytics integration, FREE accounts, tiered pricing (if you need to send more than the free account allows); and a fun experience.
