To develop a simple and update-able rolling monthly calendar on a one sheet that is in a calendar format shows upcoming events. 8.5x11 or legal size. Printed on colored paper. Info taken from the updated web site calendar.
Ideally it would include a contact me form on the back for visitors or ministry/prayer + room for mailer/mailing.
Easy enough for the office to drop in the mail at least once a month to all members.
this was how the announcements and calendar were printed at St. Aug's. it was determined that it was too ugly to be useful. they instead opted for the current version, which seems to take more paper than is required, and gives only a week's schedule. inserts are great because if the person wanted to just take the insert home (as opposed to the rest of the Order of Service) they could easily do it.
ReplyDeleteChrist Church Rockridge uses a folded cardstock cover for their Order of Service. the cover is not attached, and the OOS is stapled together separate from the cover. the cover is beautifully printed and gives a welcome message and other information that does not change. this is a simple, efficient way to do it. everyone thinks that the bulletin or OOS needs to have a full page cover, front and back. but it doesn't. it isn't like a magazine where you'll make a snap judgment on whether you pick it up based on who's on the cover. there is no choice. use it or don't.
when service is done, all the covers get gather together for the next service publication. people are welcome to take the OOS home with the cover, or leave it behind for recycling.
if St. Aug's followed this method, they could potentially shave off one or two sheets per weekly publication.
as it stands, however, i don't believe that St. Aug's recycles their paper anyway. :-(
